Abstract In order to monitor present-day crustal motion and tectonic characteristics in Beibu gulf area, repeated GPS campaigns(1998—2009) are used to calculate the 3D velocity field under ITRF2000 and internal deformation trends under a regional reference frame. The results show that Beibu gulf area along South China block is moving in NE115°direction, the average horizontal velocity is 33.5mm/a,and the average vertical velocity is 3.5 mm/a,there are in raise trends.
