APPLICATION OF SOIL RADON MEASUREMENT IN URBAN FAULT SURVEYING

Abstract The radon contents of soils in NE ward HenggangLuohu Fault and NNW ward Dafen Fault, Shenzhen City, are measured. It is shown that the two radon anomaly curves of lines appear to double peak, the radio of main peak and secondary peak to background value are 3.85 and 3.25 respectively. Compared with outcrop sections in field, the anomaly values of radon of main and secondary peaks provide the references basis for location, scale, strike, dip, magnitude and active time of the faults,so it is proved that the soil radon measurement can act as an effective method in urban active fault surveying.
