Abstract The new progress of GNSS, and the three steps of the GPS modernization are introduced,it is to broadcast new civilian navigation codes: L1C, L2C and L5; new military navigation codes: M1 and M2; and launch the 3rd generation GPS satellite GPSⅢ. The development of GPS modernization in the recent two years is introduced as well. The L2C and L5 civilian navigation codes have been broadcast, though they are not decode till now. The space configuration of GPS satellites is in reconstruction, and the number of GPS active satellite will increase to 27 even to 30.
