Abstract A fast algorithm was presented in the paper. Classical spherical approximation formula is able to be used to calculate model gravity anomaly by computers; however, the speed of calculation is still away from demand. So,a new formula is needed to improve operating speed. Throuph spreading Taylor formula, getting access to zeroorder term, oneorder term and twoorder term respectively, and comparing speed and accuracy of three methods’ speed and their accuracy,an optimum practical algorithm for calculating model gravity anomalies is obtained.
