Abstract A method of beam forming for processing highrate GPS data and extracting seismic wave information is introduced. Simulated seismic waves of each GPS station are synthesized by adding simulated Rayleigh waves into vertical component of GPS coordinates series. The capacity of beam forming to extract seismic wave information of different SNR (signal to noise ratio) is analyzed. The results indicate that, the correct value of slowness cannot be obtained when the SNR is 1.5, while it is close to the theoretical value when the SNR ratio is 3.
